Define and Leverage your target audience

With the number of social network users worldwide at 2.34 Billion today, I am going to show you how you can leverage these statistics at your advantage to reach your target audience.

You’ve got to determine who your target audience is in order to engage with them effectively. Who will benefit your product or service ? What problem are you solving? Does it meet a specific need? Is your brand unique? You need to ask all this questions before you send your information and reach out the best audience. Once you have done that, draw your followers to a funnel to start getting your list.

1- Finding Your Ideal Customer

Imagine the perfect customer and ask these questions:

  • age group you want to target
  • specific demographicbanner-1018105_1920
  • if they have children
  • career
  • interests and hobbies
  • income level
  • specific geographical area

The better you get to know your customers, the more accurately you can serve them, help them to their needs. That way you will get free marketing because they will be your recurring customers that will share their stories. Gather enough information about them through your records; where they live, what quantity they usually purchase, what time of the day they are online, etc…

If you start a new business and don’t know who you are helping, go to Think With Google – source for insights, trends and research in digital marketing –  where you’ll get a lot of information.

2- Target the Right Media

When you have a clear picture of your ideal customer, it is easier to determine where you’ll find your prospects. Do some research to know which platform your audience would be using. For example, if you target women, 76% of women use Facebook versus 66% of men – among top 50 brands’ followers on Instagram, 53% are women. Click on the link above to see very interesting statistics that will help you gather enough information to choose the right platform for your ideal customer. The millennials now are using a lot Snapchat, consider it if you want to reach out to them. 280 Million active YouTube accounts with 54% users are men. If you are selling life insurance, twitter would be the best platform to use because it reaches an older audience .. so do your homework before you send information online because it might be a waste of time and might discourage you to stick with your business.

Consider also the way you are going to send your information, even if your customers are on social media, they use their mobile phone most of the time which means they can’t jump from one application to another one. Avoid to put links which require a different app, they might have it on their desktop but not on their android or iPhone. Use mobile-friendly platform to send your information to make sure your audience will get it.

3- Determine what your customers needs and engage with them

How your product or service can provide a solution to your audience? Is your customer a tech savvy? Is your ideal customer love traveling? Again, ask yourself all this questions to know what type of information you need to send on social media.

If your audience need to build their business online and need to get more leads, the best way to help them is to create an offer with free download in exchange of their email address or subscription on your website. You can also do a blog, a pillar content, an eBook, always ask for an email address that will help you build your list… As you know your list is your income.

Coupons and deals also attract people, so if you have a product, create a post with a price giving or “buy 2 get 1 free”. If you are targeting retired people, sell them in little quantity as they are in low-budget.

Your goal is to get your audience to stay with you, you want to convert your prospect into long-term paying customers. Engage with them all the time and make them feel special !

These are all examples but the basic idea remain:

  • find whom you want to target and serve
  • find the best ways to help them
  • engage with them and make them feel special

How to deal with prospects on the phone in Network Marketing

When you promote on multi-media with a Capture page, you should have the name, email address and phone number. This way you can ring them, it is extremely important you contact them a few days after they put their details in one of your advertisement.

Entrepreneurs often struggle and get scared when they start doing cold calls. One more time, if you want to grow as an entrepreneur, you need to put yourselves out of your comfort zone!!!

Examples of 5 questions you can ask. It will put you in control of the conversation and positions you as a leader. If you are a specialist, present yourself as such. Don’t hesitate and if needed rehearsed in front of a camera or even with your spouse/partner/friends. Always project energy and enthusiasm

  1. Where are you now?
  2. Where would you rather be?
  3. How will it feel when you get there?
  4. What has been stopping you?
  5. How serious are you?

Once on the phone, don’t be too overwhelmed, you need to keep your posture. Use their first name but never Miss or Mister, this will put you in a position of inferiority. No sale voice also, act as if you talk to someone you already know, that you understand their situations and want top help.

Don’t start saying “How are you today?” or “Are you busy?”  But “I know you are busy but I’ll be brief/ it will take only a few minutes”

Try to find a way to compliment them, if they say something great about their business or even if you saw something on their Facebook profile. Boost their confidence and if you had a previous contact with them, just mention something you talked about before. So the importance to always take notes!!!!

If you need to leave a voicemail, it has to be done under 60 seconds and offer clear value otherwise they will never call you back or when they’ll see your phone number calling again, they won’t answer!

The part we all hate!!! Hostile and aggressive prospects!!

Even if you have someone on the other side of the phone very hostile, you need to keep your posture, your confidence because you know that your product/service is good. You are an expert in your domain and they most of the time don’t know much about what you are doing. You are just on the phone to help them and this situation shouldn’t discourage you, and if they don’t want you help, you know you can help others.

phoneLet the bully rant before you say anything. Silence can be just as intimidating as aggression. By using friendly strength and keeping calm, you can turn the tables. Even if it is not immediate, they might come back to you a month/3 months after.

But don’t beg prospects to join you or you will lose completely your authority figure and this prospect will be gone forever. Always be polite and try to take control of the situation. You could say :”I appreciate that this is the way you feel. Let me clarify a few thing!”

If you start promoting your business without engaging with your audience, you won’t build a long term business. I am going to give you some examples of top engaging posts. If you want to spread even more your chance of getting more people, you can boost your post from your Business Page.

It’s important to understand that there will be a learning curve to network marketing online. But that’s how it is with anything new, and it will be well worth your time and effort. Remember to set a strategy in place and maintain consistency with your social media posts.

Engagement can be defined by a Like, Share and Comment. Make posts that don’t contain links, but have all of the content housed within the post – including images, video and text. Network marketing online, when done right, gets prospects coming to YOU asking about your business.

Here are 10 post ideas that will help you build relationship with your audience and get more engagement:

1- Questions

This type of post encourages people to think about how they would act or what they would do in certain situations. It’s a fun way for people to use their imagination and engage with your posts in a friendly manner. Choose issues and situations that your target market is likely to run into. Nostalgia also is a great way to engage people

2- Opinions

When you send these types of posts, you need also to be ready for people’s opinion. While a friend/follower tell you what they think, it’s important that you listen to what they have say and actually hear it, you can use paraphrase in your own words so your follower knows you’re listening and absorbing the information.

3- Inspiration

Daily Quotes can be a source of inspiration and empowerment, that is a proven fact. One of the most common post types you see when looking through social media pages is inspirational quote posts. You can use diverse way to show your audience.

  • Motivational images, quotes, audios
  • Inspiring videos – go to Youtube (Les Brown, Tony Robbins, …)
  • Inspiring articles (success magazine, Forbes, your own blog post)

Pictures are worth a thousand words, and when it comes to generating engagement, you want to take full advantage of every chance to communicate your message.

4- Vulnerability

People are hungry for vulnerability, authenticity, consistency. If something is up in your life and you can’t be online for example, share it with your audience. By being more vulnerable and opening up about your struggles, you begin to create a community of people who struggle with the same things, and you start to build a support network or by you sharing a troubling moment in your life or a certain challenge, you’re opening a door for others to connect with you

5- Straight talk/rant

Your talk/rant should be a teachable moment. Don’t put any negativity, it has to be inspiring too. Avoid talking about politics and religion. You don’t want your timeline to be a debate.

6- Fill in the blank 

This type of post gets people thinking about upcoming events and times and if executed right, you can use it to give an idea of what your product is about. This will push people to suggest the types of products they like to use that you sell.

Best example: Take JetBlue. The airline experimented with fill in the blank status updates as part of their Facebook content strategy. Over a six-week period, JetBlue incorporated a fill in the blank post every 7-10 days like the one that appeared on March 26 and coincided with the release of The Hunger Games: If your city could be any district, it would be ______________. May the odds be ever in your favor.

7- Lifestyle/curiosity

Put something about yourself, your family. Your audience want to see who you are, not only a network marketer working long hours, but a normal human being 🙂

Share a story or experience that people can identify with and then end with a question that prompts them to want to ask how they can achieve or attain the end goal of what it is that you are promoting. Stories express things in simple terms that people are already familiar with and can easily relate to.

8- Caption a photo

This is fun and simple post that is 90% visual and 10% text. Find a funny pic, and ask you audience to leave a commentary:

“Caption this!! I challenge you to give me the best caption for this photo!! “

A great place to find photos for this is the Reddit “sub-reddit” /r/pics. The photos at the top with the most votes already have proven their power to engage people, so they’re usually a good choice.

9- Announcement post 

Before making a big announcement, get creative with a series of social media posts to build anticipation. Send a post when you have a new training, a new webinar and try to get a pictures with all the people in the room once you do your training. Zoom calls are great for that.

Your audience will see how many people are interested to your training and they might also know someone which will give you more exposure.

10- What’s HOT!

This is why it is very important you are always training yourself to know what is happening in the Network Marketing industry, what is happening with social media. The algorithm is changing all the time and if you don’t follow up, you might lose some time.

The industry and market are changing over time. The whole environment is changing over time. So, the business will need to change themselves over time. Because of that, you as an entrepreneur will need to follow trends related to your business.

How to build your business on Facebook?

Today I talk about how to build your business on Facebook. Too many people do the mistakes of posting their business and companies all the time on their profile. Facebook is not a platform where you can sell products, there are e-commerce for that! If they want to buy something, they will go to for example.  People go on Facebook to get entertained or to get value.

You need a strategy, a plan and if you are consistent and follow it, you will be able to get your business right on track!

The first rule on Facebook is that you can’t promote your business on your profile and that is why you have to build your business page. This way, your audience will have the perception that you are an expert. It is the same when you start blogging, or if you have a website.. Your followers will start listening to you and see you as a person of influence. Even if you are just starting, the fact that you bring value and offers, people will see you differently. Be creative with your post, go to the Facebook Audience Insight tool to see your audience and target the right people. See the tutorial HERE

Once you have your Business Page set up, you need to bring enough value to move people from cold to warm to hot market.

Cold market would be people that your are targeting, that would be right for your business but they don’t know you yet.

Warm market would be people that have a notion of what you are doing, that received your offers or have knowledge of your valuable content. They start to get an interest of your service/product but didn’t buy anything from you.

Hot market would be people that already bought something from you. And you certainly want to keep them beside you and have them buying very regularly.

The major mistake that people do when prospecting is that all they think is money and how many people this person can bring into the business. That is why it is Extremely important that you build relationship first with your cold market.  Never ever copy and paste your script. It is so obvious when we just say hi and in seconds we receive a page of information about their business. Don’t send any links until you are sure that your prospect understand what you are doing and what you have to offer. Then ask them if it is ok to send a link.

When people do send links and scripts, it is giving the company you are representing or Network marketing in general a bad name. Most people want to know what is there for them, or how your product or service is going to help them, certainly not receiving a random link.

Once you have build relationship, and your follower agreed to see your links, don’t forget to contact this person and ask if he liked it. It is a way to follow up and see the interest. At that point you’ll be able to judge what will be your next strategy. Maybe this person want only to try the product, or maybe the interest is bigger and this person want to be part of your team and want to make extra income.

You never know when you are connecting with people, Who you might meet.It could be your future business partner, it could be the best recruiter you could have imagined, it could be someone that would become your best friend… Who knows!!

To summarize, don’t use Facebook to sell directly your product or service, but use it to bring value to your audience and  build relationship. You will be surprised how fast you’ll get more followers and be recognized as a person of influence, a leader.

Guidelines to do a Free Report

The best and most effective way to prospect in network marketing is through targeted direct mail campaigns.When someone opt in to your newsletter or your blog, you can send them a Free Report where you can show step by step how you do your business and generate leads. Every body is different so it won’t be the same for all of us. I am going to give you some guidelines and you will have to adapt it to your business.

You want to create a relationship and build a rapport before you talk about your company or product. This may be time-consuming, but it will be worth it at the end.

The best way to do this is through lead generation marketing. Offer some free information to your prospects, like a free report. The information you provide needs to be relevant to what your prospect is interested in. You need also to update it from time to time.

1- You need to put your picture

When someone opt in through your funnel, you are going to start sending them some emails. You can use aweber for this, you can use pushcrew to see how many subscribers you have on your blog. However most of the time, they don’t open all their emails straight away, so having a picture will remind them of who you are and it is more personal this way. You start building relationship!!


2- You need to put some colors in your text

You want to make your audience want to read your report, so put some color headings, different styles so it doesn’t feel monotonous. You want to engage with your subscribers and you certainly want them to read your report till the end where you’ll have your Call Of Action.

3- You want to start with a catchy powerful headline.

You want to show your true self in the headline, and bring your audience to get to know you and bring in this headline what value you are going to give them to help them build their business.


“How a mom of 4 children discovered The Secret to generate more leads and how you can steal her step by step system to recruiting 15 people without leaving your home” or “in the comfort of your home…”

You get the idea?  Tell something about you and bring curiosity so they are going to read till the end and write the headline in red for example, it will bring attention.

4- Put the day and time

Important so they feel special, they will see that you send them this report only to them and not as an automatic response. First impression is important. People like feeling special

5- Put your content

Share how you are right now in the first paragraph, talk about yourself in a few line but then say

“But it didn’t start out this way…”

And that is when you are going to talk about all your struggle in life, your story, why you want to help people, how you become a better person, … these are only examples but you got the point. Be yourself, authentic and talk from your heart. You want your audience to relate to you and see themselves through you.

Don’t put any links to sell your product, no hard selling, this report is only about YOU

6- Ending

When you are finished with your free report, about 7-10 pages if you can, leave your name, your link for your blog so your followers can get back to your blog and see the tips and training you are offering. Put your email address and your phone number. It is very important that they can contact you. You never know who is going to read your free report and who might contact you. You might find your best friend, your best customers, your best leaders, who knows!! Stay real and you’ll get results !

Once you start capturing these leads, it’s best to create a relationship with them over time before you start selling them. Network marketing is all about relationships.

Why can’t I get money?

I get this question a lot that’s why I decided to do a post about it!

“Kathy why can’t I get money?? I work so hard and spend so much time and so much money !!!”

My little story: When I started doing affiliate marketing, I was going in all directions. Posting on Facebook, groups, Instagram, every single platform I knew and i was just looking at making more sales. I didn’t know better because usually it’s what your company tell you to do. They even provide all the marketing tools for you. Well that method of doing business might bring you some cash for a few month but then it fades away. Six months later you are on another projects and it never ends…..

These are the mistakes you should avoid if you want to be in a long term marketing business and growing your income.

1- Chasing the sales instead of teaching and helping

Instead of posting your ad over and over on your profile, or on groups, change your tactics and bring value to your post.

An exemple if you are selling a healthy product. Do a shake and take a picture before and after, and just write: ” Look this green powder with my fruits gave me so much energy!! “     I bet you’ll get more likes and comments …. Curiosity!!!

Don’t you think it is better than BUY THIS NOW !!!!Give your audience some value, educate them, put some testimonials of people using your products. Customers want to hear from someone else than you. Then you’ll see you’ll have your loyal customer.

2- Begging others to join

Never beg your friends to join or your family.

There is nothing more frustrating than someone telling you please many times or someone asking you to purchase their product and they promise to buy yours in return. I get that a lot and it is really annoying.

Network marketing is an industry of giving, we offer an opportunity or a product to help our customer to feel better or getting better income

Don’t convince them but show them what this opportunity can do for them, for their family. Your followers will be attracted to you because you are helping them and not because you are begging them to join. Begging you might get one sale and that’s it; you won’t see this person again.

3- Joining too many affiliate program

When you start doing network marketing, you will realize the amount of business out there. And you will be solicited to join many of them. Of course they are all the best, you’ll make millions without doing anything… As I always say, when you see FREE, it means BROKE because you can’t make money without investing. Think about it! No investment means very little money!!

If you already represent an healthy product company I wouldn’t advise you to take another one on board. What are you going to tell your customer? Which one you’ll choose that day? It doesn’t show very much integrity and in my opinion it brings down your credibility.

Start with one at the beginning, learn and teach your team, then only when you see that everything is under control you can select another business with care that it doesn’t interact with your main business.

Choose your affiliate program wisely! Don’t overload yourself with multiple stream of income.

4- Not seeking help from your upline

Never be afraid to call your sponsor. There are no silly questions. Coaches/sponsors are here for you because if you succeed in your business that will be very beneficial to them also.

Do a 3 way call between your sponsor, your new customer and yourself. Your client can feel your enthusiasm, your expertise and can ask every questions he has in mind. That way if you don’t know some answers your upline is here to help you.

5- Blog – Videos – Phone calls

YES you need a blog to grow as an authority figure and making money with your online business.

You need to do some videos and share your story. Your customers want to see you talking and not someone from corporate. This is called Branding yourself I did a post about it, check it out.

And the last important point, phone calls. You need to contact your customers to get some feedback from time to time. It will show that you care and that you are not ringing them to make sure they don’t miss their autoship. Again you keep your loyal clients this way.

How to create a Powerful Social Marketing Strategy

To create a successful business, you need to have a Powerful Social Marketing Strategy. To do so, you need to bring massive action and stay consistent but also you need to follow some steps that will help you succeed:

  • Write your goals: Know exactly what you want to accomplish and what you need to do to get there. Every Monday, you should set up your activity goals to keep track of what you are doing and celebrate on Friday, even if it is a little win. If you are way too far your activity goals, reassess the following week but keep consistent and stick to the routine.
  • Determine your vision: Draw it, do a vision-board. The main purpose of doing that is the fact that you need to feel it, as if you are living already your dream, your vision
  • Define your audience: You need to know what they like, dislike, what motivates them, what struggle they have, their pain, how old they are, etc… The more you know about your audience, the more you’ll be able to define who they are and market in the right place and also solve their problems.
  • Choose the right platform: Before you start going all over the place, choose the platform where you are more comfortable but also the platform where your audience is, to get customers and distributors. I would recommend to start on Facebook if you are a newbie and don’t know exactly what you are doing; the reach is massive, the age group is spread out and you’ll find all your prospects from nearly any marketplace you choose.
  • Create a content strategy: Once you have define your audience and know their pain and problems, you have to bring value to them. Be an expert on your niche, be an authority figure. You want to be like a library full of content that will help your audience to overcome their problems. Once you start getting people, engage with them, build relationship, and sell your service or product. Consistency is key so every single day you need to show up on your timeline.

You are building your brand, not the company you are representing! You want to come across as a credible authority; be yourself, and always engage with people. If you do Facebook live, ask questions, engage with the people that listen to your video. The more you know about your audience, the more you can help and get customers. 

  • Create a routine: Everybody is different, and you can’t compare yourself with the big leaders. If you have a job and you try to build your business part-time you won’t have the same time to build your business as the person that is a full time marketer. Same for mums at home with small babies won’t have the same time as the mums with teenagers. So you need to get into a routine. Try to dedicate a day and prepare your post for the week. The small ones like pictures or quotes that will fill your timeline nicely ~~ Even if you put only one post on your timeline, think about it, write great content and don’t put only the picture and quote; add something personal with value ~~  For the bigger task like blogs, i would recommend you to write it in the morning because usually they are the task we don’t like to do and if we wait too late during the day, you’ll find some excuses not to do it 🙂 I feel the same sometimes. Get rid of all the distractions when you do that. You want to spend more time prospecting and connecting with your new leads than creating value, go where the money is!

  • Track your results: As I said earlier you have to write your goals, short terms and long terms. You need to track the results and see when is the best time to post, when is the best time to do the videos, etc… You can see all the analyses on the Facebook insight. Also i would recommend you to do a bitly link to track the views, where they are coming from and which platform… you can also utilize pixels on your website to track all of your visitor data so that you can optimize your campaigns and get better results.
  • Engage and grow your business: Once you have the system in place, you need to really put yourself out-there, be patient, stay consistent and always put positivity in your posts. You want your audience to see you are passionate and you know your business. Build relationship with your prospects, but don’t wait too long to talk about your business. Don’t use a script, it will show; always put something personal. You want to do the conversions from cold market to warm market to hot market within days!!

Let me know if you got value, but remember a social media marketing plan is never permanent. It will always evolve and change as your business grows and you learn what does and doesn’t work. Reassess from time to time and make the changes on your funnels or ads if needed.



The importance of having an Autoresponder!

Having an Autoresponder is one of the most important thing you need to have to build your business online. I personally use aweber and very happy with it.

What is an Autoresponder?

An Autoresponder sends a series of emails automatically. You can preschedule some and you can do a broadcast from time to time to your list.

When someone subscribe to your list, you should have a welcome email, and then receive the next email the next day or 2 days after, and so on… You can decide the order of your email and frequency.

The benefit of having an Autoresponder is that you won’t need to manually send email to each subscriber. It is done automatically in a follow up sequence.

Email has an ability many channels don’t: creating valuable, personal touches – at scale.

Why is it so important to have an Autoresponder?

1- You are providing value to your list and because it is on “autopilot”, even when you are away or asleep, these emails are send and you might get some sales done.

2- You can personalized the emails and address prospects. This gives a personal touch and your subscribers will feel compelled to read your emails.

3- You can send your different offers and keep track on the views for your website. Once visitor has subscribed to your autoresponder you can continue to send emails infinitely until they say to stop.


  • When people you don’t know visit your website for the first time, and they subscribe to your newsletter or one of your campaign, your goal is to keep them attracted to your emails. Copywriting is very important (check my blog).
  • You can give them a trial offer, or a free report, or 30 min free consultation.
  • You can build a long term relationship with subscribers with very little effort because everything is automated.
  • You can send them different campaign, different company if you have multiple stream of income
  • Follow-up is done perfectly, you won’t miss a single customer, prospect.
  • People who like doing business with you and buy your product/service, will be happy to purchase something new because they trust you, having build this relationship
  • You can send to your subscribers a message to direct them to your blog, or ECommerce, or website. You can use a link directly on your email so they don’t need to do anything manually.
  • You can see where your list is located, which messages directed them to your autoresponder and which email has more views. You can then judge what type of email they prefer best and format future messages
  • It is a way to brand yourself, or the company. You can add a logo, your tagline, your signature, a picture. You can personalize the way you want.

  • Keep your mouth shut and listen. Don’t talk about yourself, your business or product. You want to introduce yourself as a human being not a Sale machine 🙂
  • Ask questions. People dont’ care how great you are, how much money you are making; they want to know why they should be part of your team or buy your services/products. So be curious, ask about the product they are already using, ask questions to understand what they need so you can give them a solution

  • Pay close attention of what your prospect isn’t saying. They might be in a hurry but don’t want to tell you so they will half listen and you are going to waste your time

  • Don’t push people to join your business, ask them if there is any problem and why they wouldn’t join you. However when they do join your company, motivate and reward them.

Becoming an Authority Figure is very important if you want to attract the right people in your niche and gain credibility. People do business with those they know, like and trust. Blogging and doing videos is what will bring you a lot of exposure and show authority figure. No matter what company you are representing;  can be products in weight loss, you can be with travel companies, you can do articles, etc.. it really doesn’t matter. You need to find a strategy and keep it to gain MLM expert status.

It doesn’t matter how long you are in the industry,  the keys to become an expert on your industry are

Invest – Learn – Teach – Profit 

  • Invest: if you want to become better at Network Marketing there is no secret, you need to invest in trainings, coaching courses, webinars and go to the events. It is very important to go to your company event because it will give you a boost of energy and your focus will be top!!
  • Learn: Think this way, if you want to become an electrician, you are definitely going to do some trainings, even if you know a little bit of the trade, if  you want to be an expert and not blowing the circuits, you are going to do a course!!Well it’s the same with Network Marketing, you need to read blogs, articles and take notes on what you are learning. start collecting all the informations you need to know about your niche, what to say and not to say and also how to reach out to them… So Training Training is the key !!
  • Teach: Once you have learned something, put it on your blog, or train your team. Don’t wait to be an expert and waste time. You will help someone out there that never did any training, that’s for sure!  So don’t wait up and share your knowledge.
  • Profits: Voila!! Once you have invested on yourself, learned and taught your team, you are going to make some profits because as a team, you will be better at prospecting, you will generate more leads, get more customers in your business and then you can replicate over and over!!!

You need to focus on helping  people rather than making money. Relationship business is key to attract the right people and you need to solve their problems. If you are impacting people, you are going to grow your business Big Time!!! Take notes and convert these notes on content in a blog and then ching ching!! Paycheck …. If you keep everything in your head or don’t bother blogging about it, then you won’t get any revenue out of it!

Blogging is one of the strategy that works the most and you should really consider doing it!
