Research has demonstrated that we have between 45,000 and 51,000 thoughts a day. That’s about 150 to 300 thoughts a moment. Research has likewise demonstrated that for most individuals 80% of those thoughts are damaging.
You heard me talking about affirmations and meditation, over and over again. How important it is to change our mindset if we want to make some changes in our lives. Affirmations make you conscious of your thoughts. To affirm means to state something positively. Affirmations are statements where you assert that what you wish to be real is real. Utilizing favorable affirmations gives you back command of your mind and the information it gets.
If you wish to enhance your life, it’s time to decide to think positively.
Today I want to talk about Mantra chanting that I practice from time to time. It is another way to elevate yourself in a meditative state and activate your energy centers. I encourage you to try chanting during your meditation to engage with your body, mind, soul, and energy.
What does Mantra means?
Mantra, chants or syllable sounds is a powerful way that may help to activate your chakras in your body. “Man” means mind and “tra” means across, so a mantra is something that’s repeatedly crossing your brain to control your thoughts for meditation.
Mantra chanting isn’t the same thing as singing. You don’t have to be perfect, you simply have to want to open your heart in meditative peace and let your spirit spill out. There are 2 languages for chants sung in the Indian tradition:
Sanskrit and Gurmukhi.
Sanskrit is the language of Hindu chanting and is utilized by most yogic traditions except Kundalini Yoga, which is taken from
the Sikh tradition and has chanting sung in the Gurmukhi language.
How to choose a mantra:
Choosing a mantra is an important step. Think of your reasons to chant a mantra. People chant to achieve self-love, connection with other people, better relationships, prosperity, better job opportunities, good business deals, or to connect with their true self.
Chanting can help you achieve these things because it sets you in the right vibration and the right frame of mind. You will be able to listen to your intuition and trust your instincts.
You can choose from hundreds of mantras. Set a clear intention and choose a mantra that will help you get what you want. Listen to a few different mantras and note how you feel when you listen to them. Many are available on YouTube so you can choose which one you can relate and feel comfortable with. When you find a mantra that resonates with you, it will feel right. Your synchronicity with a mantra happens on a vibrational level.
You can choose to work on one single sound/mantra like AUM per session, full sentences mantra chanting or with a series of mantra to activate your chakras like the Bija Mantras, that are ancient tools that tap into energy field that exists in this entire universe
The mantra chanting should be done during meditation with eyes closed, sitting comfortably and straight. You may chant mantras several time as repetition can help you access a meditative state.

The AUM/OM chanting benefits include connection with the cosmos through spiritual awakening. It helps you to connect with your true essence. When you chant Om, you invoke all that you are on the deepest level.
Bija (pronounced BEEJ) means “seed” because they have incredible, cosmic power to unlock growth and healing. The Bija Mantras are one syllable sounds that are meant to activate the chakras along the center line of the body. Chant the bija mantras one at a time while bringing your attention to each chakra location as you go through the bija mantras. At the crown, feel your energy rise up upwards beyond to the universe. Stay here in silence for as long as you feel comfortable. Then slowly bring your attention back down to each location crown, third eye, throat, heart, solar plexus, sacral and root. Ground your energy down through your hips and/or your feet. Slowly open your eyes when you’re ready to come back into the room.

There are 7 Bija mantras associated with the main seven chakras:
LAM (LUM) Red Root Chakra
VAM (VUM) Orange Sacral Chakra
RAM (RUM) Yellow Solar Plexus Chakra
YAM (YUM) Green Heart Chakra
HAM (HUM) Blue Throat Chakra
OM (OM) Indigo Third Eye Chakra
Silence (OM) Purple Crown Chakra
Benefits of Mantra chanting:
Mantra chants are simply a way to invoke sound vibrations in your throat to harness the healing power of that energy and foster transformative growth. Every mantra has its own vibrational frequency and different healing power which channels cosmic energy through our bodies, and generates incredible healing energy. You can use mantra chanting for love, success, health, peace, prosperity, or to connect with yourself
The words of a mantra are a vessel that takes you across the sea of your mind to arrive at the lands of the divine.
Repeating these words aloud has a particular effect on the body. As you state the mantra, your tongue is hitting meridian points on the top of the upper palate of the mouth, which impacts the energies going to other glands like the hypothalamus, the pineal, and the pituitary.
By arousing these meridian points, you’re physically producing the effect of relaxation and a modified state of consciousness.
When you first begin, don’t worry about your pronunciation and don’t fret about hitting the correct notes. All of this will come with time.
Chanting involves so much repeating, that you pick things up sooner or later.
Every morning I do this chanting to Lord Shiva: Karpur Gauram Karunavataram, Sansara Saram Bhujagendra Haram |
Sada Vasantam Hridayaaravinde, Bhavam Bhavani Sahitam Namami || ( It blesses the devotees with good health, wealth, and peaceful life.) and I am telling you my pronunciation is a disaster, but it is the intentions that count.
The most crucial thing in chanting is your heart. Open it up wide.
Ride the sound current like a wave. Feel the infinite divine right here, right now, within of you.
Namaste ❤
PS: This is one of the music I like to listen while doing work. It brings me peace !
